Soon Able to Invest in Piantelli

July 26, 2011

For some time now, rumours have been circulating about Professor Focardi’s former collaboration partner, Professor Piantelli. Focardi and Piantelli were the first to show the true potential of Ni-H LENR. Preferring to work beyond the limelight, he is seen as a diligent scientist working methodically towards the goal of understanding and perfecting a method of energy production distinct from the Rossi-Focardi eCat.

That was the rumour.

These reports are beginning to gel and Roy Virgilio confirmed in Saturday’s talk at Viarregio that Piantelli was indeed preparing an eCat competitor. Virgilio expands on earlier scant details on this site (Italian). The following covers the important points so far:

  • Prof. Piantelli is working with the University of Siena on his Ni-H cell
  • In the last few days, old cells have been rekindled with ease after working for months in the past. The cells were not pushed to perform and yet confirmed small excess energy.
  • Still in progress with a schedule of up to two months
  • Old cells have excess energy of about 2-3 times input
  • New ones plan an excess of about 200 times the energy input
  • The development of the project goes faster and faster
  • Increased gain is progressive, ensuring safety at each step
  • Will not repeat the mistakes of fission.
  • Likely start with small industrial and commercial powers
  • Patents are filed and pending
  • Some collaboration with a major U.S. institution including 3 days in the Siena lab
  • Closing on major contracts with large industrial companies for the development of generators
  • The development will be made to power the next step.
  • The first new cell will be switched to a few hundred watts. Once performing well and under control, they turn to higher powers (approximately kW)
  • Higher rates are likely possible
  • Piantelli has a complete mathematical theory that does not require exotic reactions
  • Confirms the presence of 6-7 Mev Protons
  • These energetic protons have a good cross section with nickel – good chance of reactions
  • One theory almost published as an internal document at the University of Siena;
  • The commercial company is formed by Piantelli investors – Nichenergy Ltd
  • From this base, other companies will form
  • Other companies will concentrate on a particular area, development or market
  • In 2-4 months it will be possible for anyone to buy shares (still to be announced) to support the development of technology, have control over it (and then not make it disappear into thin air at the climax) and be able to take part in future revenues
  • Shareholding a chance to participate – does not guarantee anything
  • Goal is to put the technology in hands & under supervision of a multitude of stakeholders & enthusiasts.
  • Open to ideas – this was the only way they came up with to allow more people to share the opportunity and at the same time protect the development. If you can think of others …
  • Interested parties should send an email to fusionefredda (at) energeticambiente

Other snippets:

  • Technology is based on the preparation of nickel.
  • Grain size and geometry and also the geometry of the deposition (a kind of multi-layer) are important
  • Not sure if a catalyst is involved

If the above information is accurate, this is exciting news. Like Professor Focardi, Piantelli is a well-respected scientist working at the bleeding edge of this technology. He is renowned for sober judgement and a methodical pace. To learn that he is preparing to commercial the development lends credence to Rossi’s claims. At the same time, competition can only help the roll-out of LENR into the commercial realities of a world in desperate need. Finally, although one would have to take great care when making an investment in such a new and untested technology, the strategy to involve the public is an interesting one and I would imagine it could prove very popular.

Interesting times.

Please remember that this is my interpretation using Google Translate. Any corrections, please comment.

I am Italian and I confirm you all the points are correct as reported in energeticambiente blog.

Very interesting indeed, every day we find out new developments on LENS.

    That’s a very good news

Thanks, Hunter76L. That puts my mind at rest.

It really is a potentially important development. I don’t see it warping eCat’s wheels in the short term but as the field grows, competition will be extremely important. To see it on the horizon this early is pretty cool.

    Sorry, LENR, not LENS

Roy Virgilio is giving a few more details now but he gave the news the first time back in September 2010, so even before Rossi’s first announcement. Competition on LENR will be the best thing that can happen to all of us.

Thanks, mcap. Competition is key to progressing the tech, keeping prices down and rolling it out globaaly with speed. As you say,the best thing.

Rossi made his first announcements already in February 2010 (see the “Journal of Nuclear Physics”)

      Hi Sebastion,

It is interesting to see a public paper trail reaching way back when only those working in he field were paying close attention. Hiding in plain sight, indeed.

    dear mario,
not so, take a look to Krivit’s site and blog re what he has told about Piantelli

I found that Piantelli submitted a patent with a priority date of 24.11.2008. So, it shows he has still been active in the past years. The patent of Rossi, has however a priority date of 06.08.2008. So, there will be a lot of contestation, to decide which ideas belong to whom.

This is one of the curious things, RudiD. Piantelli said that his method was diffrent from Rossi’s and Rossi also says that the proof they are differen is in the eCat’s performance (at the time). The stakes are so high though that there is bound to be blood on someone’s carpet someday.

With 6 MEV protons where are the knock on reactions and attendant energetic gammas!

Is Piantelli’s reactor supposed to be equal to Rossi’s without the “secret additive”?

      Hi Mike,

As far as I know the details we have relevant to your qestion are that there is no catalyst, grain prep involves multilayer deposition (as opposed to eCat’s micron grains with tubercules) and the fact that both Piantelli and Rossi deny that the methods are the same as each other. Make of that what you will.

Do the math… 1 Curie of radiation is about e10 radiations per second. 1 watt of fusion is about e11 fusions per second. Hence 1000 watts or 1 kw emits 1000 Ci of radiation. Radiation therapy exposes humans to 1 minute or less of 1000 Ci radiation and results in the obvious side effects we have all seen. An hours exposure is likely lethal.

      Hi Harry,

As with most technical puzzles surrounding this science, we do not have enough data for press a meaningful answer. The reporting might be wrong, they might use shielding as Rossi does or something else altogether is going on. The question is a good one but does not hold enough substance to cast any more doubt than a watcher might hold already.

O.T. Google Translate:

“…O.T. I see several comments from Italian friends. Dear fellow citizens of this unfortunate country (Italy), I’m really amazed, the hope of the world’s energy cold fusion – lern-lens is thanks to scientists and engineers ITALIAN. “We know” revolutionize the energy world but not our country. Sergio…”

      Hi Sergio,

Italy has been a leader in this field since the early days after P&F. Focardi, Piantelli et al and now Rossi. No matter what, the first two made major contributions to LENR and, while it is too early to call, we hope that Rossi will yet change the world. A proud achievement for Italy. I think the media are just being cautious as their science correspondents cannot tell if it is true or not. When it is time, the story will be big.

    Hi Paul,

I think you missed the sense of Sergio’s message (google translate didn’t help so much, indeed).

He is demoralized while looking at Italians that are able to invent, beyond the physics, things that will change the world, but cannot change their own country (Italy is not such a nice country to live especially if you have a family with kids).

But Sergio’s message, anyway, is wrong: italian’s problem is not the country itself, but that there are too many Italians…

Marco, an Italian with kids “escaped” in Germany 🙂

Rossi claims an energy gain of 19 or more, which is great. I read the Piantelli’s device has an energy gain of 200. Does anyone know if that’s true and if the size of the units are comparable.
