Celani, Piantelli Geneva LENR Presentations

January 9, 2012

Francesco Celani is a colourful and respected character in the evolving LENR scene. An experienced nuclear physicist, it was he who tried to sneek a peek at the radiation spectra during the January 2011 eCat demo before Rossi stopped him. An offer to test the eCat in order to settle the mud surrounding it was refused by the inventor who pointed out that such a move would only benefit competitors.

Celani has not been idle and recently reported success working with Ni H reactions. It appears that his efforts do not lie on a single line as he explores the field in different directions. According to reports on 22passi, he will present an interesting result during the UN WSEC sustainable energy conference in Geneva (10-12 Jan). From 22passi and translated by Google:

In these weeks our group, working with long and thin wires having the surface coated with micro-nano-particles, get re-confirmation of a phenomenon, by us, seldom observed in some previous experiments: the specific alloy used (Cu-Ni), that usually has Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) of the resistance, if absorbs large amount of Hydrogen, changes to Negative TC. Such phenomenon is correlated to anomalous heat production and increases as the anomalous heat increases. If such key phenomenon will be kept under full control, because its behaviour can be observed with simple instrumentation, it can be open the door to systematic work, worldwide, to find the “optimal” material and operating point.

If this result is verified, it could prove a powerful analytical tool when trying to discover the process underlying LENR. If the effect ranges over a number of materials and dopant strengths, a researcher may be able to use the switch in resistance as a marker to electronically signal when excess heat is optimal and with what mix of materials.

Compare the situation with that in 1989. Thousands of scientists around the world groped blindly for an effect as elusive as the Yeti. Now researchers understand (to an extent) why the reaction was so elusive and are able to create it at will. This is just the start. If Celani’s result holds, it could form part of a growing arsenal that will be brought to bear on the problem. With luck, we are seeing early signs of what’s to come.

Many people are angry at scientists, forgetting that it is they who will eventually take the ragged toddler that is LENR and push him to maturity.

Roy Virgilio also reports that Piantelli, the scientist many think is hot on the heels of Rossi, will also present something new and worthy.

The following tease was also posted by Roy (he has been reliable in the past). Translated by Google:

WSEC 2012, cold fusion becomes mainstream science! And ‘with great pleasure that we point out an extremely important international event to be held at the UN in Geneva 10 to 12 January 2012 and promises to change that finally and definitively the future of so-called “Cold Fusion”. ‘s “International Sustainable Energy Organisation” (ISEO) UN organization, is preparing an international conference on sustainable energy that will be also emphasized on LENR studies and the results achieved in recent years. In fact it is un’ufficializzazione of this technology in front of politicians, organizations and companies around the world. Fortunately for us, and in recognition of the tremendous work carried out in recent years in our country, indeed the forefront of this sector, our speaker will be done by Francesco Celani INFN Frascati. I am attaching the final abstract of the speech Celan (which will have a plenary session of about 15 minutes worldwide and two hours in workgroups of scientists) and the agenda of the day (Celani and LERNA be found in Group III). Good read …. and that is the right time that the subject of cold fusion and funded as it should be reassessed to arrive in our homes as soon as possible. The world could change for the better. Roy

Exciting times.

Actually it’s Roy Virgilio who is reporting that.

By the way, in a message I’ve written in the previous blogpost (awaiting moderation) there were more links of information by Francesco Celani posted on 22passi, if you haven’t seen them. Lots of information and clarifications about the PTC->NTC behavior he’s discovered, but unfortunately it’s in Italian only (Google translation needed).

I don’t know what un’ufficializzazione is, but I like it!

Daniele Passerini from 22passi is saying that there won’t be real news about Piantelli in the next 2 days during WSEC 2012. Who to believe?

“Ah, it seems that there are substantial innovations by Piantelli, the same old statements … no action.”

It sounds to me like Passerini’s been covering the Rossi E-Cat story a bit too long. 😛

Believe the conference proceedings and Piantelli’s posted presentation. Those should be more reliable than precognition.

    stupendous from defkalion furom

Well since I had visited DGT’s offices in Glyfada, I presume I am among those Greeks referred from DGT. For all it matters and since I am visiting many offices due to my profession I can tell they are real people, hard working and no “scam” looking at all (I have my top ten list for scammers in any business, they don’t fit anywhere in this list 😉 )
Furthermore I would like to mention that among them are people well known in Greek business “scene” that have served for years other fields with honesty and good business practices, which makes me a “believer” on them. Definitely they want “time”, not buying out of it, but for e.g. settling things with the “monsters” of the Greek bureaucracy etc etc. They are heroes trying to setup such a enormously innovative business in Greece not now that we have problems but anytime !

Why doesn’t he take some photos and post them on the web. I am surprised Defkalion don’t.

Defkalion has offices with people in them. So does Steorn. So does Blacklight Power. So does EEStor. Is there something that says a company with bogus technology can’t have offices?

Stupendous says Defkalion doesn’t look like a scam. How does a company ‘look like’ a scam? Do people have shifty eyes? Are they fat and smoke big cigars? Do they sit with their feet on their desks drinking Greek wine?

I’m at a loss as what you might see in ordinary offices to indicate there’s a scam.

Remember that stone cold skeptics are usually socially retarded. So they may not have any sense of what a legit operation is vs. an illegit operation.

If you walk in on a factory without them knowing that you are coming and people are working, it is a good indication that they are real. But it is not absolutely certain.

Remember that true believers are naive and gullible who lap up any sop and excuse a scam artist throws their way. They have no sense of what an illegit operation is.

They also twist and modify information. You just did that. Stupendous saw offices, not a factory. Stupendous didn’t walk in unexpected since he considers himself one of the people mentioned by DGT.

Since so many hang on Rossi’s every word, an interesting article may relate to his reversal about customer #2’s name becoming public.

    Dear Herb Gills:
Today we sold in the USA a 1 MW plant which will go to a normal Customer. This installation will be visitable by the qualified public.
We wait to have completed the contractual procedure through the attorneys, then we will give communication. It will be in the North East of the USA, where I have been in these days.
    Warm Regards,

    Dear Mr Rossi,

I know I have asked you this question before, but I wondered if the situation has hopefully changed over Christmas and New Year. Are you able to publicly name the company who is the second customer of one of your 1MW eCat systems?

The last I heard from you was that it had to go through some legal hurdles first.

    Dear eCatNow!:
I did not say absolutely that we had to go through any legal hurdle! I just said that our Customers want not to be exposed to the tsunami of contacts and emails that usually rain upon our Partners of any kind when we give their names: therefore we had to sign “non disclosure agreements” regarding anything we do with them.
    Warm Regards,

I would guess about 50/50 given all the obstacles he and his company must overcome in this short time frame…

    • Josh

      January 11, 2012 at 4:42 pm

He doesn’t have to overcome it all on his own. If he has a working product as he states, he could work with those more capable (or at least more experienced and better equipped) with manufacturing a new product and bringing it to market. If he tries to do this all on his own, the chance is much greater than 50% in my opinion… which makes one wonder why he makes such statements and chooses this path…

No one has seen a “Market Ready Home E-Cat” as far as I know. Going from a lab bench prototype to an assembly line product producing thousands per day is quite a leap, but given his tenacity, dedication, access to funding and engineering, I believe he has a 50/50 chance of producing by late this year given no big gremlins appear during the setup process which is very likely as per Murphy’s Law…

Having pre-ordered e-cats for my homes and business I will admit to being positively biased even though I am seldom an early adopter.
Still, the dearth of actionable information is disconcerting. Claiming to be ready to produce a million e-cats of one or two models (Rossi has established that home models are different than those in the arrays for the 1 meg plants)indicates a remarkable naivete with respect to the legal and political issues to be addressed in introducing a transformative product, never mind the lack of a solid business plan (Rossi states installer networks will develop organically). I will pass on his approach to marketing.
As far as product goes, history shows us the Stanley Steamer was a breakthrough product but was quickly taken out of business because of lack of market acceptance(warm up time and range was improved on by a competitor very shortly). Ford’s model A met early acceptance before almost taking the manufacturer down because alternatives were being produced with continuous improvements in features (one of the risks of assembly lines and robotic production – unless one has millions of dollars and extremely deep pockets)
If existing energy companies through lobbyists manage to stymie approvals and certifications (we’ve had reports of uncontrolled melts) one can also assume lengthy delays in delivery while ‘consumer safety’ is established.
If only LENR could mature in another year it would be a world changer in the order of magnitudes. But, in all liklihood, 5 years from now, the cost of legislated ‘safety measures’ will have assured the continuation of oil business economics as usual until LENR is fully under the control of Halliburton, BP, Exxon and the other 5 or 10 richest corporations of the world. Sorry folks, but Andrea Rossi will not be allowed to single handedly change the world order of economics . At least not in our current political/legal structure of western capitalistic governments.

And the key words here are “single handedly.” Of course rossi is not operating single handedly. He has legions behind him.

So it’s now the 14th of January. What did Celani say at the conference? I’ve heard no report on it.
